ID&E and Nippon Koei Management Visit Mpakeni Dam

24th Spetember 2025 | Eswatini.

The Koei Africa team had the honour of welcoming very important delegation from ID&E and Nippon Koei during their recent mission to Eswatini. The delegation was led by Mr. Kanai, Chairman of ID&E, and included Mr. Tamura, Acting Director General of Business Promotion Operations at Nippon Koei, Mr. Takahashi, Chief Regional Officer for Africa, and Ms. Yuki Nakagawa, General Manager of Nippon Koei Africa. The programme commenced with a courtesy visit to the Eswatini Water and Agricultural Development Enterprise (EWADE), the client for the Mpakeni Dam and associated works project. This engagement underscored ID&E’s steadfast commitment to supporting the Kingdom of Eswatini in delivering resilient, long-term infrastructure solutions that strengthen both water security and sustainable agricultural development.

The discussions with EWADE not only highlighted the depth of the partnership between ID&E and EWADE (Government of Eswatini) but also reaffirmed a shared vision for continued collaboration. Both sides expressed their determination to build on the success of existing projects by advancing future initiatives aimed at sustainable water resource management and the development of critical infrastructure across the region.

Following this meeting, the delegations proceeded to the Mpakeni Dam construction site, where they were given a comprehensive tour of the works currently underway. Accompanied by Koei Africa engineers stationed on-site, the visitors were able to see first-hand the significant progress achieved to date. Among the major works already completed are the excavation for diversion construction, installation of the site facilities, construction of the permanent camp, and the establishment of the diversion structure. In addition, several other key activities remain ongoing as the project advances steadily towards completion.
