Koei Africa’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to Support Autism Awareness on World Autism Day, 2nd April 2024

2nd April 2024 | NAIROBI, KENYA

Koei Africa partnered with Andy Speaks to commemorate World Autism Day on April 2nd, 2024, with the aim of creating an inclusive environment for neurodivergent learners. The event featured activities such as awareness campaigns along the Nairobi-Garissa route, empowering sessions for caregivers in Garissa, specialized medical training at Garissa Referral Hospital, and a three-day free medical camp in Garissa County.

Through this collaboration, KAF sponsored the purchase of essential educational materials, therapy games, and fine motor skills therapy items to the Garissa School for the Mentally Handicapped. These were to support cognitive development, academic progress, sensory integration, communication skills, and overall motor function for autistic learners.

During the flag-off event at the Kenya School of Special Education (KISE) in Nairobi, three Koei Africa staff members handed over the educational materials and assistive devices. Esteemed guests, including the CEO of National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD), Nairobi Women Representative Hon. Esther Passaris, and Archbishop Muheria, emphasized the importance of promoting inclusivity and diversity within our communities.

At Koei Africa, we are committed to advocating for the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities in line with the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). Together with Andy Speaks, we worked towards creating a future where all individuals, regardless of neurodevelopmental differences, can thrive in inclusive and supportive communities.
