14th May 2024 | NAIROBI, KENYA

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Kenya, hosted the ABE Reporting and Networking Fair at Mercure Hotel in Nairobi. This hybrid event, organized in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE), celebrated the achievements of ABE Initiative alumni from Kenya, Eritrea, Seychelles, and Somalia. Approximately 30 attendees participated in person, while around 45 joined virtually. The event provided a valuable platform for eight alumni to share their experiences in Japan and the initiatives they have undertaken since returning home. Japanese companies operating in Kenya, including Koei Africa, Isuzu EA, Axcel Africa, Mitsubishi Corporation, and Shimizu Corporation also participated.

Koei Africa's Technical Managing Director, Mr. Akifumi Watanabe, made a presentation on Koei Africa’s engagements with ABE alumni. From Nippon Koei (NK), the General Manager of the NK Liaison Office, Ms. Yuki Nakagawa, attended along with two ABE graduates from Koei Africa and one from NK’s SEZ Electricity sub-project office.

Koei Africa was honored to be part of this transformative journey, leveraging the skills and insights of ABE graduates to drive sustainable development and innovation in Africa. The company looks forward to continuing its engagement with the ABE Initiative Alumni and fostering successful partnerships that benefit both Africa and Japan.
