Koei Africa and Nippon Koei recently enjoyed another successful team-building retreat held from 26th to 27th June at A-A Lodge, located in Kajiado County, in Kenya. The two-day event brought together colleagues to strengthen teamwork, improve communication, and foster stronger working relationships in a relaxed and inspiring environment.
The retreat featured a variety of engaging team-building activities designed to enhance collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills. Participants worked together through group challenges, teamwork exercises, and interactive problem-solving sessions, all aimed at reinforcing the importance of cooperation and effective communication in achieving shared goals.
A major highlight of the retreat was an evening game drive through Amboseli National Park, where the team had the privilege of witnessing some of Africa’s most renowned wildlife. Among the animals spotted were lions, buffaloes, antelopes, giraffes, and elephants, creating an unforgettable safari experience. The park also offered breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain, whose majestic snow-capped peak provided a spectacular backdrop to the wildlife sightings and added to the beauty of the evening adventure.
As the sun set, the team gathered for a special dinner and bonfire experience at the lodge. The evening was enriched by cultural performances from Maasai warriors, who entertained guests with traditional songs, dances, and demonstrations, creating an unforgettable atmosphere of celebration and camaraderie.
On the second day, the team visited a nearby Maasai village to gain deeper insight into the rich Maasai culture and traditions. Participants learned about traditional medicinal herbs, marriage customs, and the unique role of women in constructing Maasai homes. The visit also included an opportunity to view and purchase locally crafted artefacts and to participate in traditional Maasai dances.
Following the cultural excursion, the group enjoyed a well-deserved lunch featuring Nyama Choma, Kenya’s beloved national barbecue dish, before beginning the journey back to Nairobi.
The retreat was a fantastic opportunity to step away from the office, strengthen relationships, and create lasting memories. By combining team-building activities, cultural experiences, and recreation, the event reinforced Koei Africa and Nippon Koei’s commitment to fostering a connected, collaborative, and engaged workplace.
Taking teamwork to new heights!
